Korean Exchange Opportunity

Yoo Yoon, Korean Mission Field Consultant with CBF Global Missions is trying to place 50 Korean students with host families in the United States beginning in August 2008.

Most of the high school students participating in the program have an interest in becoming missionaries or pastors in the future.

Being a host family would require that you host the student for 10 months from mid-August 2008 through May 2009. Host families provide a room, meals, transportation and exposure to American culture.

A church may host one or two students as foreign, educational or cultural mission. A student provides her or his own insurance and all personal expenses.

If any church or individual is interested in opening a home to a student for the school year,

Iowa flood news

July 16, 2008

Although CBF has followed our Partner American Baptist Churches-USA into Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 7, we are closing the relief operation today.  ABC-USA informed us on Wednesday that the city of Cedar Rapids had announced that instead of “mucking” a large number of houses they were being condemned instead and would be razed. The number being discussed is in excess of 2,000.

We have received several calls from our supporters wanting to schedule trips to the area to help.  However, since Wednesday I have been informing all that work is on hold until the City/State requests further assistance.

As unexpected as this occurrence has been, it is not unusual in a disaster of this size.  There are so many factors involved in such an event that the best plan often changes daily.  Our best help at this time to pray for all that have been affected by this event.  We must also remain alert to any special need we hear about as a result of this tragedy.

My deepest thanks to all who spread the word and to those who responded.  Blessings all.
